What can I offer you?

It’s late at night, and you’re staring at the ceiling…again! And suddenly you cringe as you remember that moment where you said that really stupid thing to a work colleague. You replay the scenario once, twice, three times, with all the clever witty things you could have said!

Or maybe your child has just started at a new school and when you walk into the playground everyone seems to be chatting. After the first week you’re still standing silently amongst all that chatter. Why are you always the one who seems to struggle to be noticed?

Perhaps you’re in a new relationship and at first it felt different, but then you find yourself suddenly in the same situation as the last time. You find yourself running around fixing and sorting for them but never having the time for yourself. And if you ask for help empty promises are given, so you just stop asking.

There are patterns here, things that are maybe keeping you stuck. Keeping you going round and round, like a hamster on a wheel. And you think to yourself ‘How have I ended up here, again!’

I’ll gently challenge those embedded ways you have of dealing with life because your self-awareness will empower you to make choices. Will allow you to take responsibility for your life, so that rather than living it as a passenger you become the one in the driving seat.

Together, we will delve into the challenges you regularly face, whether it's anxiety, stress, exhaustion, people pleasing or that mean little voice constantly gnawing away at your self confidence.

Therapy is not just about addressing problems; it’s also about discovering your strengths. With my support, you will gain a clearer understanding of yourself, enhancing your resilience in the face of life's challenges and learn to accept the imperfectly, perfect human you are!

In our sessions you could discover a new way of looking at the same situation, you could see how keeping a tight hold on the past is keeping you stuck, unable to move forwards. You could learn to let go of the fear that’s making you cling so tightly to old behaviours.

Let’s see what we can achieve.

So, what’s this counselling all about then?

Counselling is a passion of mine.

To help people for a moment on their journey in life is a privilege.

I began my counselling journey over 10 years ago when I went along to a local WEA course all about Freud. Little did I know how much those few weeks would shape my life. I was surrounded by all this knowledge but also I was surrounded by a group of people who were connected by their shared interest in understanding themselves and others. I was hooked.

This led me to my local adult education centre where I completed a level 2 and level 3 counselling course, and then onwards to college to gain my diploma qualification in Therapeutic Counselling. During this time I began my placement at a wonderful agency. They supported and nurtured my skills, allowing me to grow as a therapist and as a person.

Since then I have continued to educate myself all the way up to a Masters Degree in Psychoanalytic Analysis at the Tavistock and Portman. Stopping in on many different elements along the way.

I have never lost sight though of the fact that above all counselling is about human to human contact. To simply be present with somebody at their most vulnerable, help guide and equip them with the tools they need to move forwards.
